Furniture Care

Always follow the manufacturers suggestions as to how you should care for your furniture. Furniture should never be placed over heat registers, near fireplaces, or in direct intense sunlight as this may dry out, fade, or cause further damage to both case goods as well as leather and upholstery items. Leather should be conditioned with a conditioner specific to the type of leather you have purchased. This will keep the leather soft, supple and help prevent cracking and/or peeling over time. Fabric upholstery should be vacuumed regularly to remove dirt and dander. Identify the fabric content as certain fabrics (cottons, chenilles, etc.) may require special care when using cleaners.

When a spill occurs, clean it promptly before the stain begins to set by blotting it with a clean, dry towel. As a general rule, mild cleaning detergents may be use, after you have identified that it is safe for the specific fabric content of your upholstery. It is recommended that no detergents be used on fabrics such as Polyesters (Microfibers and Ultrasuedes) as the cleaner may leave a residue within the fabric that will attract dirt later. On wood furniture, a dry towel is best for general dusting, but occasionally, you may want to use a cleaner light in oils to bring out the shine and condition the wood.
